Hanauma Bay is a horseshoe-shaped, reef-protected marine reserve — and the easiest world-class snorkel spot on Oahu. The bay is closed Monday and Tuesday; reservations are required online for the other five days.
How to reserve
Visit the official Hanauma Bay reservation website 48 hours in advance. Slots fill quickly during peak season.
Reef-safe rules
- Mineral sunscreen only (zinc oxide / titanium dioxide)
- Never stand on, touch or kick coral
- Stay at least 10 feet (3 m) from sea turtles
