Lanikai Beach sits on Oahu’s windward side and is famous for its calm, glass-clear water and the two small Mokulua islets just offshore. It’s widely considered the most photogenic beach on Oahu.
Best time to visit
Sunrise. Park on a side street (residential — be respectful), walk through a public access, and stake out a spot 20 minutes before sunrise.
What to bring
- Reef-safe mineral sunscreen
- Beach towel or sand-free mat
- Insulated water bottle
- Snorkel gear (the water is calm enough)
Local etiquette
Lanikai is a residential neighborhood. Don’t block driveways, don’t play loud music, and pack out everything you bring in.
